Cookie & Privacy Disclosures

1. What we store in your browser

CanvasCook uses a small number of browser storage items so the site works. We do not use advertising cookies and we do not run third-party ad trackers.

2. Storage we use

• Session token (localStorage) — keeps you signed in after you log in. Removed when you sign out. Strictly necessary.
• Preference flags — remembers small UI choices such as a dismissed notice. Functional.
• Google Sign-In — when you choose to sign in with Google, Google sets its own cookies during the sign-in step under Google's privacy policy.
• YouTube embeds — recipe and video pages embed YouTube players. YouTube may set cookies when a video is loaded or played, under Google's privacy policy.
• Image CDN — recipe images are served from Cloudinary and our own storage; these providers may log standard request data (IP, user-agent) for delivery and security.

3. Analytics

We record searches made on the site (the query, whether it returned results, and your account role if you are signed in) to understand which dishes people are looking for. This data is used internally by the site owner only and is not shared with advertising networks.

4. Managing cookies

You can clear or block browser storage in your browser settings. Blocking strictly-necessary storage will sign you out and may prevent saving recipes. Because we do not use non-essential tracking cookies, no consent banner is required for basic browsing.

5. Privacy disclosures

• AI providers: text you type into the AI generator (ingredients, dish names) and any photo you upload for ingredient detection are sent to our AI providers to produce a response. Photos are not stored by CanvasCook.
• Email: transactional emails (verification codes, account notices) are sent through Resend. We do not send marketing emails unless you opt in.
• Hosting: our servers and database are hosted with our cloud provider; data is encrypted in transit.
